Obama oreders federal agencies to triple the use of renewable
Obama announced that the U.S government must be an example for the people and he set a goal for all 500,000 federal buildings and ordered them to use three times more clean energy until 2020.
The U.S. government has been obliged to set an example for everybody and use 20% more renewable energy, as the President of the country announces.
Barack Obama asked the federal government to rise up their use of green energy and to reach a 2020 target of 20% renewable energy use.
As part of his decision to minimize the U.S dependence of fossil fuels, the President signed a memorandum Thursday stating that a greener future would also help minimizing pollution, put climate change on hold, and last but not least, promote American energy independence and boost domestic employment opportunities regarding solar and wind energy.
“In order to create a clean energy economy that will increase our nation’s prosperity, promote energy security, combat climate change, protect the interests of taxpayers, and safeguard the health of our environment, the federal government must lead by example,” are Obama’s word in the memorandum.
“During my administration, federal agencies have reduced their annual greenhouse gas emissions by more than 15% (7.8 million metric tons) – the equivalent of removing 1.5 million cars from the road. Today I am establishing new goals for renewable energy as well as new energy-management practices.”
The federal government occupies more than 500,000 buildings and uses about 600,000 vehicles in the U.S.A. Moreover, it also consuming goods of $500 billion every year meaning that any progress regarding a more renewable future made by the government it is possible to be felt heavily.
