PV solar panel demand is rocketing in UK
Nigel Parkes, managing director at Underfloor Warehouse, has suggested that solar PV panels are rapidly increasing in popularity, with much of the boom due to the government’s Feed-in-Tariff.
”Users of renewable energy will be paid generously. That obviously acts as an incentive,” he explained.
Mr Parkes predicted that the new heating incentive is likely to do the same for energy efficient boilers as the Feed-in-Tariff has done for solar PV.
His opinion that Feed-in-Tariffs have fuelled the boom is confirmed by figures from Ofgem which reveal that by March 2011, over 25,000 domestic solar PV systems have been registered in the UK.
The developments revealed that total energy generation capacity of 65.8 MW have been installed since the onset of the Feed-in-Tariff, a figure which represents 94 per cent of the total installed capacity in the UK.
